Tourists in the UAE can now extend their stay without leaving the country. UAE tourists have the option to prolong the validity of their visit visa. They can do this by extending their stay for up to 60 days.
However, one must follow the correct procedures established by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP). Failure to extend the tourist visa as per the shared guidelines may attract a fine. It will result in a fine of AED 50 per day.
It is important to note that the previous 10-day visit visa grace period for tourists is also eliminated. To assist tourists in extending their visit visas without incurring fines, we have provided a comprehensive guide. Dubai travel agents, the ICP, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) recommend that visitors apply for a 30-day extension visa before their original visa expires. Visitors can obtain this extension twice, allowing them to stay an additional 60 days.
The cost of extending a UAE visit visa varies depending on the source. The ICP website states that it costs AED 610, while Dubai’s GDRFA website mentions AED 600. Additional fees, such as the knowledge fee, innovative fee, and fee for being inside the country, may be included, bringing the total to approximately AED 620.
When applying for a visit visa extension through a travel agent, the cost can range from AED 800 to AED1,000.
To extend a UAE visit visa, holders can approach the same travel agency that issued their visa or utilize the ICP or GDRFA websites, as well as customer service centers. Required documents include the original visa and a passport that has a validity of at least six months. Applying through the ICP or GDRFA website typically results in a visa extension within 48 hours.
For travelers originating from countries without a visa-on-arrival agreement with the UAE, it is advisable to apply for visas in advance through a travel agency or visa services provider. It’s worth noting that individuals ineligible for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival in the UAE can still apply for a tourist visa. However, females under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parents when applying for a tourist visa.
