Document Attestation
The process of verifying the authenticity of a document by a government or authorized entity. This service is necessary for various purposes, including employment, education, and legal matters.
A mandatory procedure for individuals who wish to use their personal or official documents in the UAE. The attestation process involves verifying the authenticity of a document and confirming its validity for use within the UAE.
The Process
- Step 1
Notarization: This involves getting the document certified by a notary public in the country where the document was issued. The notary public verifies the identity of the person who signed the document and confirms that the signature is genuine.
- Step 2
Authentication: After notarization, the document must be authenticated by the government authorities in the country where it was issued. This involves obtaining an official stamp or seal from the relevant government department, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Step 3
Legalization: Once the document has been authenticated, it must be legalized by the UAE embassy or consulate in the country where it was issued. This involves submitting the original document, along with the authentication certificate, to the embassy or consulate for review and stamping.
- Step 4
Translation (if applicable): If the document is not in Arabic, it must be translated into Arabic by a certified translator. The translation must be attested by a notary public in the UAE, and the original document and translation must be submitted for further review.
- Step 5
Ministry of Foreign Affairs attestation: Finally, the document must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. This involves submitting the original document, along with all the previous certificates and stamps obtained during the attestation process, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for review and stamping.
